Stockton University's Dance Company Residency 2025 artists-in-residence, BigKid Dance, present BRUTE, a dance work inspired by horror cinema and lore. According to Mark Caserta, Resident Choreographer and Founder of BigKid, BRUTE “acts as a self-reflection, acknowledging our brutality and our humanity, the person we present and the one we truly are, while navigating love, death, and grief.” BigKid Dance’s mission is to utilize imaginative movement, in practice and performance, as a bridge to community, communication, and understanding. Recognized by the dance field as a strong emerging choreographic voice, with a recent Jacob’s Pillow Choreographic Fellowship and a Princess Grace Award, Caserta and BigKid Dance are making cutting-edge works that challenge audiences, pushing the form of contemporary dance forward. This concert concludes a weeklong residency of master classes, talkbacks, lecture-demonstrations, and rehearsals with the Stockton Dance Company.
