Fall Professional Development Workshop

Union City High School

Union City , NJ

Dance New Jersey’s fall workshops seek to highlight diverse dance forms and celebrate the rich diversity of dance by delving into its cultural, historical, and technical roots. In 2024, participants explored the historical roots of Caribbean Contemporary dance with workshop leader, Shola K. Roberts. They examined its cultural and social influences, then engaged in a movement practice, embodying the vibrant rhythms of the region. In 2023, our focus was on Tap, where Jason Samuels Smith led a dynamic warm-up and improvisation circle, and discussion on the history and progression of Tap and and its cultural impact. Stay tuned for the announcement of our 2026 workshop leader!

Professional development credit for these workshops is available upon request. Please contact Kerri-Ann Munoz, Director of Dance Education, at kerriann.dancenj@gmail.com with questions regarding this event.
