Mosaic Dance Theater Company celebrates Women’s History Month with a look at two extraordinary women from ancient times in Mosaic: A World in Motion. Meet Hatshepsut and Enheduanna — two dynamos who pioneered against the norms of their male-dominated societies of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Mesopotamia respectively. These trailblazers carved out special places in history for themselves as a Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt (Hatshepsut) and as the first non-anonymous author (Enheduanna). MDTC paid tribute to Hatshepsut and Enheduanna as part of a full-length larger production of Fo(u)r Women. In T(w)o Women, you will learn about their lives and times, and get some behind-the-scenes information from Choreographer Samara Adell (MDTC’s Artistic Director for Dance), and Writer/Director Gary Kupper. Plus, the program features a short talk with Ancient Near East scholar, Dr. Phyllis “Phaedra” Saretta. Then, enjoy Hatshepsut and Enheduanna as MDTC brings them to life on stage. Register today.
