Since the summer of 2022 I have been working on a photography project showing the movement of dance in a way different from most others.
Here are some details.
Each image is created using a long exposure, 1.6 seconds, during which a photo flash fires 6 times. This results in a photograph with the subject shown 6 times, each separated as a result of their motion. I ask each participant to improvise that movement. Occasionally, we will use fabrics, which I supply, to emphasize their motion.
I expect each session to last about 1 hour and will generally be at the studio I use in Rahway, NJ. I am looking for dancers or people with any other movement practices, over the age of 18, of any gender. Each participant should bring several pieces of wardrobe normally worn in their movement practice. Lighter colors work best. Makeup should be basic and hair loose. As noted, I will have some fabrics which we might also use.
You will be required to sign a standard model release and will be compensated with high resolution images from your session which you will be free to use.
