Teacher of Vocational Arts/Dance

Teacher of Vocational Arts Dance at GCIT:

1. Demonstrates the ability to use effective pedagogical skills, excellent communication skills, an enthusiasm for learning and the desire to maximize the learning potential of all students.

2. Designs and implements a comprehensive project-based dance curriculum aligned with state, industry and vocational standards, including rigorous training in a variety of dance techniques, genres and styles.

3. Instruct students in beginner to advanced dance techniques, dance composition, choreography/repertoire, dance history, improvisation, Laban Movement Analysis, and performance production, ensuring a high standard of technical proficiency and artistry.

4. Maintains current trends, methodologies, practices, and employment opportunities within the dance industry.

5. Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrative staff, and other faculty to enhance all facets of the dance department.

6. Knows his/her students well, develops a strong sense of community in the classroom, and personalizes each student’s learning experience.
